INT. BLIZZARD HQ

Everything's messy like someone left in a hurry, or everybody
did. Papers and files unwanted litter the floor. Chairs and
tables are turned on their side. What few lights in the
ceiling still work flicker in and out randomly. It's almost
abandoned save for the sound of cracking glass at the end of
one of the long cubicle rooms. At the end of the room is the
door to the HEAD PROGRAMMER'S OFFICE. Behind the door,
               another sound of crushed glass.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - HP'S OFFICE

Not much can be said differently of this room. Except that
the Head Programmer's desk is not overturned. It is still
right side up and occupied. The Head Programmer leans back in
his ruined leather chair, torn from wear and tear or sudden
brutal use. It's still holding. Bringing a cigarette to his
lips followed by a lighter, the Head Programmer takes a drag
and turns his chair to the cracked and stained observation
window behind him. And now we can see that the entire city of
Irvine resembles the character of Blizzard's insides. Ruined
buildings, toppled scrapers, rubbled roads, no signs of life,
red skies, the works. It's Armageddon's rumpus room and
               there's no walls in sight.

The Head Programmer smirks, coughs a bit on the smoke. He's
pretty beat up, wounded something fierce. Blood stains his suit
where a gaping hole in his chest resides. It's as if he first
               realizes it's there.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMMER
                         That bitch.

Thunderclap. He looks up. Squints. Then he understands and he
chuckles. Blinding light and then it's back to normal again.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMMER
                         'Bout damned time.

He takes another drag, coughs, leans back and plants the hot end
of the cigarette into the desk.

               SIDE SHOT

The Head Programmer reclines deeper into his chair, a look of
dissatisfaction and regret on his face. A second passes. And
then the giant glass wall shatters inward, a strong wind blows
in, the Head Programmer is pushed back against the desk and the
whole place goes red with heat. Papers ignite into flame and the
Head Programmer's body violently flakes away as the cloud
               engulfs everything.

MUZZLE FLASH - RAT TAT TAT TAT TAT TAT!

               PULL AWAY

STREETS OF IRVINE - TWO WEEKS AGO

A man desperately holds a submachine gun, firing every round
he's got. His face is sheer survival mode. He's yelling over
the volley of bullets. Words on his shirt read "IT'S ALL A
CONSPIRACY!" So for now, we'll know him as PARANOID.

                                   PARANOID
I know where you come from! I know
                         what you're here for!

His magazine runs empty. He looks down, curses, discharges his
clip and manages to catch the zooming sound of a projectile
headed his way in time to roll out of the way. A streak of smoke
passes by his head and slams into a ruined building, exploding
on impact. Debris is everywhere, toppled over already scattered
debris. Following the trail of the projectile we see what Paranoid
is so eager to disperse. Several loud, clanking, hulking robotic
humanoid figures, menacing and futuristic looking weapons either
in their hands or making up their limbs. The things look vicious
and they march by the hundreds in unison, in direction of our
doomed hero. And then the orders bark from across the way.

                                   FEARLESS
Paranoid, you dumb son of a-

               BOOM!

Paranoid is thrown into a ditch that looks like it was blown
into the city street which has been utterly destroyed. The
whole place is a post apocalyptic war zone. Fearless, a battle-torn
man, seasoned in his late 40s, dashes across the road, his automatic
shotgun pounding away at the enemies to his side. He makes a bee
line for Paranoid who is clumsily cramming another magazine into
               his submachine gun.

Fearless chucks a grenade into the army of robot fiends and
the bomb goes off, knocking a few of them to the ground but
they soon get to their feet and continue their march. Their
guns go off in unison, a wall of screeching doom on anything
in their way. Fearless jumps into the ditch, grabs Paranoid's
               weapon and loads it properly.

                                   FEARLESS
                         What's the matter with you?

                                   PARANOID
                         I understand why they're coming.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Goddammit, they're coming to kill
                         us! Keep it simple stupid!

                                   PARANOID
                         Keep it what?

Another whistling projectile. Another explosion. Both men
               crouch against the ditch.

                                   MALE VOICE (V.O.)
Fearless what the hell is going on?

Fearless looks to Paranoid who eyes him a "sorry."

                                   FEARLESS
Gaval, I got a tip from your angel
that we had some weak points in the
line. I'm on tighten up mode.

                                   GAVAL (V.O.)
It's too late. The line's gone.
Damned Flensers pulled a hat trick.
                         Heavy casualties. We're picking up
                         wounded and falling back.

                                   FEARLESS
So what do you want me to do?

                                   GAVAL
                         Duraznos isn't responding. His team
fell off the face of the Earth
                         twenty minutes ago, five blocks
                         south of your position.

Fearless looks over the road. The army is drawing closer.
One of them spots him and fires. He pulls Paranoid
against the ground as the wall erupts beside them. Paranoid
screams. His leg is pretty banged up now, half buried in rock.
                Broken.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Search and rescue?

                                   GAVAL
                         Anybody you can find.

                                   FEARLESS
                         You got it.

Fearless looks to Paranoid for a way to help him out of the
               jam.

                                   PARANOID
Not gonna happen this time, mi amigo.

                                   FEARLESS
You brought this on yourself you
                         know.

                                   PARANOID
How in the hell did I bring this on
                         myself?

                                   FEARLESS
I'm trying to make myself feel
                         better.

                                   PARANOID
Just leave me a weapon that I can
                         handle.

Fearless trades his shotgun for the sub.

                                   FEARLESS
Fairly simple. Aim and shoot. But
hold on tight. If it jams on you...

                                   PARANOID
I'll know it wasn't your fault. The
                         damned government is out to--shit,
                         get out of here. Go!

And Fearless is off. Paranoid goes to work on wedging his foot
out of the rock, but there's no prying it. And then the clanking
gets louder and one of the robot "Flensers" rears its ugly head
               over the side.

                                   PARANOID
Give my regards to MetalZues mother
                         fucker.

               KABLAM!

The shotgun rocks back, its slug pounding into the Flenser so
hard the head flies off and it stumbles over dead. Now other
Flensers surface, each meeting the same fate. Shot after shot
they keep coming and then the shotgun clicks empty. A Flenser
zeroes in on Paranoid. Paranoid drops his shot gun. Looks at it.

                                   PARANOID
                              (to the shotgun)
They got to you, didn't they.

               BLAM!

EXT. STREETS OF IRVINE - DAY

Fearless stops against an abandoned store's wall when he
hears the shot he doesn't like. He grits his teeth.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Dammit, Paranoid.

Ahead of him is his destination. The sign above the blinking
yellow street light reads "5th Street." He makes a break for
it, leaving the sounds of battle behind him. When he rounds
the next street corner he sees his mark. A giant building,
               Irvine Elementary School.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Gaval, a school?

                                   GAVAL (V.O.)
They went in to get Shade out.

                                   FEARLESS
                         S&R for S&R.

                                   GAVAL
Blame Master Tuff. Just get in
there and find out what the hell is
                         going on.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Copy.

He checks the streets. Nothing. He runs for it.

               INT. IRVINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

We'll just assume from here on out that everything looks like
it barely survived a war, if that. Shit thrown everywhere.
               The place is a mess.

Fearless enters the main hall and tactically pushes deep into
the unlit school. Finally he hears moaning in one of the
rooms. He investigates, kicking the door in and leveling his
gun on the other side. Across the small class room is a guy
with a nerf gun aiming at the door. So it's a stand off,
               sort of.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Gonna take more than that,
                         Gunslinger.

Fearless steps into the room and a heavy assault rifle is
pressed against his neck. The wielder is a Rambo look-a-like,
bandana, too many explosives, guns strapped everywhere, the
works. Since "Rambo" is taken, we'll call him THUNDER.

                                   THUNDER
He had more than you could take.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Thunder.

                                   THUNDER
                         Fearless.

                                   FEARLESS
Still can't say you lack the
                         burlesque savvy

                                   THUNDER
Wish I could say the same.

Fearless surveys the room from his spot. He sees several
immobilized bodies around the room. No sign of who he's
                looking for.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Where's Duraznos?

                                   GUNSLINGER
                         He went to find help.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Couldn't use the tight beam?

Thunder drops his gun from Fearless and shuts the door
                 behind them.

                                   THUNDER
                         Blizzard's been jamming this whole
block. Spamming all sorts of jitter
across every frequency so we can't
                         hear anything.

                                   GUNSLINGER
                         Can't send anything either. Nothing
                         goes through.

There's a moan, the same moan Fearless heard before. His eyes
go to a slumped body near Gunslinger. A woman. Call her
EJITOP. A man who's name we'll say is JOLT is tending her
wounds, but they look pretty bad. Fearless leans over them.

                                   FEARLESS
And this is the reason you couldn't
                         follow him.

The woman looks up to Fearless with angry eyes.

                                   EJITOP
                         Fearless, please. I'm dying. Give
                         me slack.

                                   FEARLESS
                         You're not gonna die. Relax.

                                   JOLT
Been telling her that for the past
                         half hour.

                                   GUNSLINGER
Eji took the brunt of the damage
                         when they smashed through that
                         wall.

He points to a giant hole where brick once was.

                                   FEARLESS
The enemy ambushes through a brick wall,
so you pit your wounded against
                         another?

                                   JOLT
                         I'll move her.

                                   FEARLESS
The only place we're moving her is
back to the HQ. Where are Shade and
                         Tuff?

                                   EJITOP
                         Gone with Duraznos.

                                   FEARLESS
Thanks, now lay there and shut up.
I'm going to get signal. I'll call
                         for air support.
                             (to Jolt)
You get her up and out first.
                         Thunder, help him out. Gunslinger,
                         you're with me.

                                   GUNSLINGER
                         What about the others?

                                   FEARLESS
                         They're looking for help. We'll
either get to them or they'll get
to us. Either way, we're all
                         getting out of here.

               BOOM!

The wall explodes as predicted and three Flensers crash
through. Their guns already going off. Everyone takes what little
               evasive action they can.

INT. IRVINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - HALLWAY

Three figures rush down the broken hall. One woman, two
cloaked men. SHADE, MASTER TUFF and DURAZNOS. They stop when
they hear the explosions behind them.

                                   SHADE
                         Oh fuck.

                                   MASTER TUFF
We should go back for them.
                             (hits himself)
                         You idiot. They're dead. Leave
                         them.

                                   DURAZNOS
I fear we never should have.

                                   MASTER TUFF
I told you we should have waited
                         for back up.
                             (hits himself again)
Wait for back up? Did you have a
vision of our saviors coming to our
rescue for no reason and forget to
tell us about it? Wait, scratch
                         that thought because I wouldn't
care. Because I know that vision is
                         CRAP!
                             (slaps himself again)
                         You're crap.
                             (and again)
                         YOU'RE crap!

                                   SHADE
Enough! I say we go back.

                                   DURAZNOS
                         I second.

The three turn to see two charging Flensers.

                                   DURAZNOS
                         Or not.

Blasters go off. There's no time to evade. Shade grabs ahold
of Master Tuff who can do little else at the moment but stand
in the way of the blasts. But they never come. Duraznos has
his arm outstretched and ahead of him is a blue field aura
that is absorbing the bolts of energy.

                                   DURAZNOS
I think I'm running out of manna.

Master Tuff collects both Shade and Duraznos and jumps into a
side hall. The three make a break and burst through double doors
               into the giant cafeteria.

INT. IRVINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - MEANWHILE

Fearless and Thunder dispatch the Flensers with a combination
of heavy arms fire and some wicked kung fu stuff.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Ej?

                                   EJITOP
                         Still breathing.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Jolt?

                                   JOLT
                         Right here.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Gunslinger?

Nothing. They turn through the smoke. Gunslinger is pressed
against a back wall, his body and the wall riddled with
               holes. He's room temperature.

                                   EJITOP
                         Shit.

                                   FEARLESS
                         OK, we're moving. Let's go.

He and Thunder construct a quick carry cot out of debris and
spare clothing and move Ejitop onto it and the four of them
               head out.

               EXT. IRVINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

As the team reaches the bottom steps of the school, two
winged humans, angels land in front of them. One of them
"ARCHANGEL" is dressed in some sort of battle suit. The other
               "SERAPH" sports casual attire.

                                   ARCHANGEL
We're here to get you guys out. The
                         place is crawling.

                                   FEARLESS
                         We noticed.

The gunfire inside the school draws all of their attentions.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Take her to HQ.

                                   SERAPH
                         Playing hero again?

                                   FEARLESS
I'm following orders. The hell are
                         you doing?

                                   ARCHANGEL
                         Gaval said to find you.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Well good hunting.

                                   ARCHANGEL
Bring you back. Preferably not on a
                         stretcher.

                                   FEARLESS
We'll see about that one. She's
dying. Get the hell out of here.
                         Thunder, Jolt: with me.

The two winged men shrug and take Ejitop into the sky. The
three others turn back towards the school.

INT. IRVINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - CAFETERIA

The Flensers have broken through the barred doors and are
wrecking havoc on the large kitchen area. Tossing things this
way and that in their search for the three targets. Behind
the ovens crawl our heroes. As the Flensers draw closer,
Master Tuff sees an out. A window ajar. Problem is, it's on
the other side of the cafeteria. He motions to the others for
his plan. They somewhat agree not given any better
alternative. Their only problem seems to be that directly
between them and the window stand the deadly robots. Master
Tuff chucks a frying pan across the room. The Flensers
quickly move to investigate. And that's when the three make
their run. They get to the window and help Shade through. But
therein is the other problem. Bars. One is missing. Shade can
squeeze through but she is caught. Her belt. Duraznos fidgets
with it to free her but now the Flensers have their targets
               locked.

                                   MASTER TUFF
                         Raz?

                                   DURAZNOS
                         I'm afraid I haven't any manna
                         left.

                                   MASTER TUFF
Right. Guess this is my lucky day.

                                   DURAZNOS
                         What are you doing? Don't!

                                   SHADE
                         What's going on?

Duraznos begins working harder to get Shade through. Master Tuff
makes his way through the chairs and tables. Slowly and
deliberately, and then quick and desperately. The Flensers at
first are confused but very soon they solve the new situation.

The following events happen at once. Duraznos gets Shade
through the window and then turns to see what's going on
through another. Master Tuff lunges at the robots. Duraznos
closes his eyes as he squeezes himself free from the bars.
The Flensers fire. Shade screams. The doors burst open to the
cafeteria and Thunder, Jolt and Fearless charge through, guns
blazing. The first Flenser takes the hits. The second unloads
on Jolt who is slammed over a table with laser fire. Finally
that robot, too, is gunned down. Fearless and Thunder then
quickly secure the area. They hear Shade crying through the
window. Duraznos is cradling and rocking her.

                                   SHADE
He came back for me! He did this
                         for me!

Thunder looks over Master Tuff's smoldering corpse.

               INT. CWAL INFERMARY

Fearless stands at the doorway watching in as a handful of
doctors work on wounded men and women. One particular doctor
is trying his best to patch up Ejitop. She is unconscious.
The man called GAVAL steps up beside Fearless. He sticks out
with his fedora, duster and shitload of wooden stakes.

                                   GAVAL
                         Rough day at the office.

                                   FEARLESS
                         To hell with that.

                                   GAVAL
                         Right. Sorry.

                                   FEARLESS
We found our mage though. Right?

                                   GAVAL
                         Yeah.

               Weird silence between the two.

                                   FEARLESS
                         They're pushing harder every day.
Not sure how long we can keep up.

                                   GAVAL
                         We're talking about moving. Cutting
                         our losses and skinning out.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Probably best idea yet.

                                   GAVAL
Didn't want it to go down like
                         this.

                                   FEARLESS
Yeah. I have to admit, though I'm
kind of happy to see everyone
together again. Got to keep your
                         head up, right?

                                   GAVAL
                         Sure.

Gaval turns to leave. Stops mid way. Turns back.

                                   GAVAL
                         Hey, good work out there.

                                   FEARLESS
                         Yeah.

And he's gone. Fearless turns back to the room. Back to the
doctor at work. But he's not working anymore. He's looking
cold back at Fearless. He shakes his head.

               Another one lost.
