INT. CWAL HQ - INFIRMARY - NIGHT

Arcturus sits beside Shade, watching her as she sleeps.
               Protective. Duraznos approaches.

                                   DURAZNOS
Some wounds can not heal with
                         modern medicine.

                                   ARCTURUS
                         Some wounds shouldn't happen. What
                         was she doing there, Duraznos?

                                   DURAZNOS
I don't know. She took her team in
without warning. Really, it was a
                         miracle we found them.

                                   ARCTURUS
That area was too hot. She had
                         to know something.

                                   DURAZNOS
Maybe. Perhaps we can ask her when
                         she wakes.

                                   ARCTURUS
You know that feeling you get, when
                         something inside you says you're
                         running out of time?

                                   DURAZNOS
I know the feeling I get when
                         something inside me says I'm
                         running out of mana.

                                   ARCTURUS
I'm taking my team. You were there.
I'd like you to come with us.

                                   DURAZNOS
Not sure that good I'd be.

                                   ARCTURUS
You can show me where you found
                         her.

                                   DURAZNOS
                         That I can do.

                                   ARCTURUS
                         We'll leave, first light.

               EXT. CITY SKYLINE - NIGHT

Two ORCAS fly toward the Blizzard Headquarters. Below them,
fires ignite all around as the battle rages.

               INT. ORCA - NIGHT

The PILOT checks his scanners. They're clear. He gives a
thumbs up to the back where several spec-ops soldiers run
               last check-ups on their gear.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - CEO'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Crashing. Shattering. Papers hit the floor. The Head
Programer enters, curious. Ahead of him, Malice mutters a
               curse.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Troubles?

Malice plops into the CEO's chair.

                                   MALICE
Not at all. Just trying to make
                         sense of the place.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
Looks it. So what is the plan,
                         exactly? You've snuffed out the
                         board, eliminated Pat and
Scott from the equation, much less
my former master. What will you do
                         now?

                                   MALICE
                         Nothing.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Nothing?

                                   MALICE
The war, you mean? I don't care
about it. The Flensers will hold
their own. My focus is on that
                         school.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         The school?

EXT. BLIZZARD HQ - ROOFTOP - NIGHT

The Orcas hover above. Ropes drop. Shadows slide down
and secure the area before moving for the penthouse.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - CEO'S OFFICE - NIGHT

                                   MALICE
                         St. Lucile Elementary School.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Joining with the Catholics?

                                   MALICE
Religion is for church and the
cripples who lean on its pews,
dear. I have crossed a certain gem
                         I think you'll find most
                         interesting.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Not that it matters.

                                   MALICE
                         Hm, yes.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - STAIRCASE - NIGHT

The spec-ops guys clear the stairwell and set up around the
entrance door to the top floor.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - OFFICE SPACE - NIGHT

The soldiers spread out into the room and begin a silent
sweep of the cubicles. A few doors down is the CEO's office.
The windows are too clouded to see through. Still, the red
dots of laser sights zero in across the wall of the
               office.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - CEO'S OFFICE - NIGHT

                                   MALICE
I've been running a little pill
                         through the underground, getting
certain people types to talk, you
see. Word below the street is we're
all living on top of some
                         supernatural evil. Go figure.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
And you think the school has
                         something to do with this.

                                   MALICE
                         They certainly seem convinced.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - OFFICE SPACE - NIGHT

The squad leader raises his hand, halting the rest of the
team. He looks over to another soldier who aims some sort of
pointer toward the room. Through his headphones, he can hear
               the conversation beyond the wall.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                             (from beyond the wall)
You do realize we already have a
team on their way to Rome in search
                         of some powerful thing.

The soldier nods to the leader.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - CEO'S OFFICE

                                   MALICE
Let's not play games. everyone knows
                         that Blizzard has been actively
hunting the globe for an extra edge.
I'm merely pointing at something more
                         local.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
Do you have any idea what sort of
                         power lies under this school?

                                   MALICE
No. But that's sort of the point,
                         isn't it?

The Head Programer doesn't answer. He hears something. The
faintest of noises. In an instant he's over the desk and
tackling Malice. Bullets punch through the wall all over.
Everything's hit. The desk is chewed up. One of the display
swords is knocked off the wall and stabs into the ground
directly ahead of Malice. So close.

The firing stops. The Head Programer roams Malice, grabs the
magazines for his submachine gun that she'd not given him
before. He eyes her, and she eyes him.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - OFFICE SPACE - NIGHT

The soldiers hold their position. Nothing's happening. The
one guy with the listening device raises it again. The wall
ahead of them comes crashing down as the Head Programer
bursts through. He lights up several of the soldiers and
               rolls behind a cubicle wall.

The soldiers break apart and take defensive positions
               wherever they can find them.

The Head programmer signals Malice who grabs the sword. The
team leader motions to two of his men to close in. Another
               one covers their advance.

The Head Programer fires into the isle. Malice makes her
move, crossing the isle and running break neck down a hall
way. The soldiers light up the isle and press forward faster.
The Head Programer can't do anything. The soldiers round the
corner of the cubicle. They beat red dots on Head Programer's
position. He's not there. He's jumped the cubicle wall. He
spreads his shots through it and the guards take it in their
knees. And then their chests. The guy covering them hears
footsteps coming his way. He looks across from him. Charging
down the hall is Malice. She throws her sword.

FOLLOW THE SWORD AS IT WHIRLS

The blade pierces right through the guy's skull, pinning him
against the cubicle. The blade comes out the other end of the
wall, right at the leader. He thinks it's Malice. He unloads
on it. The bullets punch into the spec-ops guy. They zip past
Malice who grabs the guy's gun and lets the wall have it. Her
rounds punch through the wall, and the leader - having no
poor schmuck between him and them - takes the rounds all to
               the chest. He's down.

One last soldier rounds the corner. He's got a SAW. He raises
it at Malice. Eyes go wide. Minimi Mk.46 belt fed 5.56mm
Light Machinegun. No dodging that. Out of nowhere, the Head
Programmer grabs the rifle, breaks the guy's arm and smashes
his face with the back of the gun. He crumbles.

He looks to Malice. She's grateful. Doesn't look like he
               cares.

               Lights.

The Orca hovers at window level, its sights set on
the Head Programer. Minigun locked. The Head Programer dives
as the hallway is clouded with bullets. The wall behind him
practically explodes in a trail. The Orca hovers to the side
               to find him again.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Keep it busy!

Malice does just that, jumping to her feet and running
lengthwise across the office space. She lights up the window
and the Orca takes the bait. The Head Programer breaks for
the staircase. The Orca fires again, this time on Malice who
is running out of hiding places.

EXT. BLIZZARD HQ - ROOFTOP - NIGHT

The Head Programer bursts out of the Penthouse. Lights shine
               on him. The second Orca.

A side gunner opens fire on his position. He runs for it,
Firing on the gunner. No use. The hull's too thick and the
Orca keeps moving. On the bonus, it keeps the gunner from
getting a dead lock. The Head Programer hears the ringing of
the other Orca's vulcan. Malice is in deep shit.

He races toward the gunfire. The side gunner gets a fix.
Punches the Head Programer's path with 7.62 rounds. Big
holes, lots of gravel shit in the air. The Head Programer
spots the Orca below him, spitting into the side of the
building. He falls back against the penthouse. And finally
his tick arrives. The second Orca hovers above him.
               Spotlight's on our pal.

INT. BLIZZARD HQ - OFFICE SPACE

Malice is huddled behind the only piece of dry wall the
Orca's missed. She's counting her blessings between cut hands
from the glass and debris that's been indirectly blown at
her. Not as she planned it. She's not panicking, but damn if
there isn't a tear streaking down her face.

                                   MALICE
                         Fuck. Fuck!

EXT. BLIZZARD HQ - ROOFTOP - NIGHT

               What's the Orca waiting for?

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Bring it.

The Head Programer marches out. He unloads on the Orca. The
Orca isn't leveled on him now, but it fires anyway, the trail
of anti-armor rounds punching down the penthouse. They'll rip
into his skull first, go down from there as his body falls.

But that's not how it plays out. One of the Head Programer's
rounds blows out a side propeller and smoke flares up. The
Orca immediately spirals into a stall and drops from the sky,
right on top of its spitting sister. The two hovercopters
crash to the ground level and erupt. The Head Programer steps
up to the ledge, looks down on the flaming wreckage. Lights a
               cigarette.

Malice runs out of the Penthouse. Finds the Programer. Wipes
               her tears.

                                   MALICE
                         Thought I was fucked.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Yeah.

                                   MALICE
                         Got a spare?

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Yeah.

He hands her a cigarette. Pops open his zippo. Lights it. She
               takes a drag.

                                   MALICE
                         So where to now?

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         The school I guess.

                                   MALICE
                         Fuck the school. For now.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
First day on the job, already
                         falling behind.

                                   MALICE
                         Yeah, well, shit happens. Looks
                         like I can't ignore them. They'll
                         keep coming. Coming for their
                         comrades. Coming for me.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
They're coming for the man you
                         killed. They don't know they've
                         already won.

                                   MALICE
They haven't won. The tin cans...

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
Will hold their own. Right. I guess
it all depends, then. On what you
                         want to do.

                                   MALICE
                         What I want to do?

               They're getting closer.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         Yeah.

                                   MALICE
                         What I want.

She wraps her hands around him. He obliges. They hold for a
second and then it's all out mouth-to-mouth. Malice breaks
               away.

                                   MALICE
                         You're a robot.

                                   HEAD PROGRAMER
                         You're the master.

                                   MALICE
                         You're right. Fuck it.

Malice pushes the Head Programer down. Straddles him. Kisses
him. Together they work away their clothing. And while the
city of Irvine burns to the ground and chaos waves its
banner, the two villains share a moment of animalistic, carnal
               passion.
